About Kevin.

"I know how lucky we all are to live in Mason County.  As your commissioner, I will listen to your concerns and respect the needs of families and businesses throughout the county.  I am grateful for the opportunity to call Mason County home, to raise a family here, and for your vote for the county commission."  -Kevin

Kevin Shutty is proud to call Mason County home and is honored to be running for the county commission. He lives in Union with his wife, Catherine, and their two dogs (who may make an appearance on the campaign trail!). Kevin and Catherine are active members in the community and share a commitment to public service.

Kevin is currently serving his first term as Commissioner. He previously worked as a Public Information Officer and Outreach Coordinator for the Washington State House of Representatives, where he also worked as a Legislative Assistant.

Kevin and Catherine are active members of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Belfair and strong supporters of the Shelton YMCA and Great Bend Center for Music, of which Kevin serves as Vice Chair of the Board. In his free time, he enjoys reading, watching sports, exploring Washington state, and recently took up smoking BBQ in the backyard.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education and a Master’s in community and economic development, both from Penn State University.

As a full-time commissioner, Kevin works every day to maintain the rural character of Mason County and advocate for economic opportunity for residents and families to build a brighter future for the county we all love.
